Study Manager - Ecotoxicology/Environmental Fate

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an additional Study Manager to assume GLP Study Director responsibilities either immediately or after suitable training, to work on all aspects of the ecotox studies.  We are particularly interested in candidates who have a background in analytical chemistry or who have worked on Phys/Chem studies as this forms an important part of the work undertaken at Chemex.  A wide range of analytical instruments are available to support ecotoxicology studies or run stand alone chemistry studies. As a Study Director, you will be responsible for ensuring that the technical team working on these tests follow the test protocols to the required scientific and regulatory standard. You will review and approve the study data and will be the single point of study control and have overall responsibility for the scientific, technical and regulatory conduct of studies allocated to you as well as for the interpretation, documentation and reporting of results. As a Study Director you will be familiar with conducting work in compliance with GLP although you may not have worked on these specific study types before. The candidate should have a proactive attitude towards internal and external customer satisfaction and the highest standards of scientific quality and regulatory compliance. You will typically be educated to degree level in a related scientific discipline or have experience within a busy contract research environment in a study management position.   If you don't necessarily have such qualifications and experience but believe that you can show that you have a clear scientific understanding we would also be interested to receive your application as full training will be available.

This is a permanent full-time postion – Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.  Salary negotiable dependent upon experience.

Laboratory Technician

Job Description

Chemex are recruiting a laboratory technician to work on a range of general laboratory activities in their busy laboratory at Cottenham, near Cambridge. This will include maintaining test organism cultures, breeding laboratory fish, preparing reagents, cleaning glassware and assisting the scientists on routine laboratory tests.

No specific qualifications are necessarily required although a good interest in environmental science or higher qualifications will be looked at favourably. Full training for this permanent position will be provided. The ability to work responsibly as part of a team and with a flexible approach will be the primary prerequisite.

This is a full time (37.5 hours per week) permanent position with some weekend work on a rota (overtime paid). Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.  There may be the chance to progress to more specialized positions subject to satisfactory completion of training and roles becoming available.

 

Client Liaison Officer/Sales Administration

Job Description

Chemex are currently looking to fill the important front line role of Client Liaison Officer/Sales Administration. 

Key job functions include: dealing with clients over the phone/via email and on occasion in person, accurately and efficiently communicating client requirements, producing quotations for clients in a timely manner, ensuring contractual paperwork is in place, liaising between laboratory and clients regarding project specifications, recording sales information on spreadsheets, assisting with client database maintenance, other general administrative tasks. In addition, a proactive attitude to acquiring new clients and assisting with marketing activities is also required.

In this role you will be expected to take ownership of the tasks undertaken and ensure that the company delivers an exceptional level of front end customer service.  The ability to communicate effectively with a high standard of professionalism, is essential.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills with a ‘can do’ attitude, effective time management and organisational skills, be able to work under own initiative with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and have an excellent telephone manner.

This position is sales/administration based, however, the ability to work in a technical environment is important.  A scientific background or interest would be useful, but not essential, and a willingness to learn and adapt to the unique requirements of the role is crucial.  Training will be given.

Some prior experience in customer focused roles, with a knowledge of customer service excellence would be required.
