Marine testing is primarily conducted for product registration under the Offshore Chemical Notification Scheme (OCNS). Chemex are one of the few UK laboratories that offer a wide range of marine studies suitable for this purpose. Species data required for this scheme and offered by Chemex include Algae (Phaeodactylum tricornutum), invertebrate (Acartia tonsa), fish (Cyprinodon variegatus is our preferred species, but we also offer Scophthalmus maximus) and lastly sediment reworker (Corophium variegatus), where appropriate. Other marine species are also available.
In support of the above studies, where required, Chemex also offer a comprehensive Analytical Support service utilising the on-site analytical facility equipped with a range of analytical techniques.
Chemex also offer more cost effective screening methods for initial determination of the most suitable chemicals/products to proceed with prior to undertaking the more costly full studies.
In addition to new chemicals registration testing, we also routinely perform testing of produced formation water and process effluents to assess their toxicity to aquatic environments.
